reLaunch of JeffRogers.com
October 02, 2006
I’m happy to announce that over the weekend we lauched the redesign/realign of JeffRogers.com.
In recreating his website we didn’t want to stray far from the original design because Jeff was pleased with the overall look. The main focus was to address the coding aspects, a few functionality issues and adding a new section for his new book. His site is now XHTML 1.0 Stict with a fresh new CSS driven style.

The intro screen now features a proper image rotator written in PHP, I had to get creative since Jeff wanted the rotated image to be the link and not just sit there looking pretty. Typically that code has been used to define the background of a particular element of CSS. To compensate I made it the background of the link and set the link style to display:block; and matched width and height to the DIV. Problem solved.

Originally all the galleries were displayed at the bottom of the screen using a set of frames. After some conversation we finalized on a few different layouts.

This was the first part of the redesign/realign to go live. I’m not actually sure when this went live, it has been some time now since that happened. These pages go along side one of the biggest motivators for reworking the site, the launch of Jeff’s new book “Kentucky Wide” If I’m not mistaken the book is being sold today or tomorrow.
I really enjoyed working with this project, it has been a good experience to work on a real life example outside the seminary. I learned, relearned and rethought quite a bit about setting up a website logically and probably part of my own new site design is a result of working with Jeff’s site.
I hope you all enjoy the site and the photos, now, go buy Jeff’s book.

Very nicely done! I think more sites could benefit from tweaks like this, where the look and feel needn’t be sacrificed, but the underlying codebase is overhauled. Mi gusta – muy bien!
