Two Cool New Things I Found Today
August 09, 2006
1. Modo 202
“modo 202 delivers the next evolution of 3D modeling, painting and rendering in a single integrated and accelerated platform.”
This program just looks cool. If I had the cash and some more time I’d probably try to get my hands on a copy of it.
2. Shiira
“Shiira is a web browser based on Web Kit and written in Cocoa. The goal of the Shiira Project is to create a browser that is better and more useful than Safari. All source code used in this software is publicly available.”
I did get my hands on a copy of Shiira and it’s great. Well, I think it’s great. My inital reaction resulted in disappointment because I mistakenly downloaded 1.2.2 instead of 2.0b1. (I saw screenshots first…) 1.2.2 for the most part, looked like every other web browser I’d seen previously. Then I realized my mistake and downloaded 2.0b1. (It’s beta.) I don’t know how I’m really going to like it in the long run, however, my first thought was that Shiira was the most beautiful browser I’ve seen. Then when I loaded my page… it broke… So, we’ll see how I end up liking it. I also don’t know how long I can take the comments about using a browser named after He-Man’s “girlfriend” She-Ra …I continually assure them that it’s something completely different all-together.
Tomorrow I might finally get around to posting an article I’ve been writing about fighting spam… We’ll see how that goes.
